New Mini Statue Has Been Hidden in Liberty Square for You to Find

Budapest's collection of hidden Kolodko sculptures keeps growing. Just a few days after the Money Blower appeared near the National Bank, a brand-new miniature has been discovered in nearby Liberty Square.

Budapest's ever-growing collection of hidden miniature sculptures has gained another addition. Just a few days after the appearance of the Money Blower statue near the Hungarian National Bank, sculptor Mihály Kolodko has quietly installed yet another tiny bronze artwork, this time in Liberty Square (Szabadság tér).

Like many of Kolodko's works, the new sculpture was not announced in advance. Instead, it was left for curious passers-by to discover, continuing the artist's tradition of turning Budapest into a city-wide treasure hunt. Fans quickly began sharing photos and clues online as they searched for the latest addition.

The new statue can be found close to the controversial German Occupation Memorial in Liberty Square, and it depicts a forklift as it is lifting and trying to haul the monument.

Kolodko's miniature creations have become one of Budapest's most charming modern attractions. Rather than dominating public spaces, his tiny bronze figures reward those who slow down, look carefully and explore the city's streets on foot. Many reference Hungarian history, popular culture or current events, making each discovery both entertaining and thought-provoking.

UPDATE: On the same day, two more statues appeared on various points in the city: A Meditating Rabbit on Margaret Island: it depicts a rabbit sitting in a deeply calm, meditative "zen" state. The piece playfully nods to local history, as Margaret Island was historically known as Island of Rabbits.

And the other one is the beloved classic character, Pinocchio on the Pest side, near the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) / Vigadó tér embankment area.
