Budapest is in the Top 20 Filming Locations in Europe

On a new list, designed for producers, scouts and creative professionals planning their next shoot, Budapest came in to an impressive third place in Europe, behind London and Berlin.

 

ScoutAround’s list ranked cities around the world based on their suitability for film production. Their data-backed ranking of the 20 best film production cities – assessed on cost-effectiveness, crew quality, infrastructure, incentives and overall film-friendliness – is designed for producers, scouts and creative professionals planning their next shoot. Budapest also made the list, coming in an impressive third place in Europe, behind London and Berlin.

Why is Budapest among the top filming locations in Europe?

They write that the main advantages of filming a movie in Budapest are the exceptional cost-to-quality ratio, the strong studio infrastructure and the highly effective incentives. They add that Budapest might be the best location for feature films, TV series, studio-heavy productions and action. However, they mention that "the crew depth and capacity can tighten when multiple international shows overlap".

Concerning their methodology, they have different cathegories. Each category is scored from 0–100%, based on how favorable the city is for filming. The final result is a Weighted Filming Friendliness Score, similar to a film-bond risk assessment.

This ranking is designed to help international producers, line producers, executives, and production managers evaluate and compare European cities as filming destinations using a consistent, operational framework.
