Judas Priest Returns to Budapest After Four Years

The legendary band is touring Europe this summer with their Faithkeepers tour. Judas Priest's latest, 19th studio album, Invincible Shield, was released in 2024, followed by a sold-out world tour.

The band first played in South America last year to huge crowds, then Europe, and finally in the fall they did a joint American tour with Alice Cooper - organizer Live Nation said in a statement sent to MTI on Monday.

Although Judas Priest said goodbye to the audience in 2012, they reunited at the end of 2013 and have been active ever since.

The band formed in Birmingham in 1969, sold over 50 million albums worldwide, and won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Act. The 2011-2012 farewell tour (which also included the Sziget Festival) featured the four members of the classic lineup, Rob Halford (vocals), Glenn Tipton (guitar), Ian Hill (bass guitar) and Scott Travis (drums), with K.K. Downing, who retired before the concert series, replaced by Richie Faulkner on guitar, who has been a member of the band ever since.

Judas Priest has such huge successes as Victim of Changes, Diamonds and Rust, Turbo Lover, The Green Manalishi, Breaking the Law, Painkiller and Hell Bent for Leather. It was Rob Halford, the frontman of Judas Priest, who started the heavy metal trend by dressing from head to toe in leather and metal. With his stage presence and his amazing four-octave vocals, he is one of the most charismatic singers in the history of the genre.

Several of Judas Priest's albums are included in the list of the 100 best metal albums of all time by the American Rolling Stone magazine. In 2020, they celebrated their 50th anniversary, but due to the pandemic and Richie Faulkner's health problems, the tour was postponed to 2022. Also in 2022, the members of Priest - Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, Ian Hill and Scott Travis - were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where Alice Cooper inducted them. In 2025, Priest also received their fifth Grammy nomination for the song Crown of Horns.
